Morse code but in cat terms
If you are reading this on your phone or laptop, you are fortunate. Why? you wonder. Some people, Elena Ferrante considers them the more fortunate, enjoy learning through touch. And the best way to learn is with cats. They jump, they scratch, you crave their warmth, you make them go fetch until they grow tired. Never old, no no. Forever young, yes yes.
And when your cat is in danger, she meows:
Meow meow meow
Meoooow meoooow meoooow
Meow meow meow
One goes fast, the next is slow, the last is short like the first, and as it goes with cats, they choose to loop it forever and ever, until you bring a pillow close to them. You better not push them, they can scratch! but won‘t if you scratch back. If they feel like it, they‘ll knead you into their buiscits.
And when your cat presses her paws on you, she taps:
Tap tap tap
Taaaap taaaap taaaap
Tap tap tap
Until the ball of wool gets knitted and you end up with little sensations of calm and purring.
